About Me

Ashlyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping people. Ashlyn Began her play therapy journey out of a love for children and wanting to make an impact on the future. Ashlyn works with children, teens, and adults ages 3-24 to provide support and a safe space for people to explore their emotions and work through their trauma.

Ashlyn’s approach to therapy is Person-Centered with aspects of Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She believes in creating a comfortable and open atmosphere to allow clients to feel safe and heard. She believes that healing begins with understanding and connection with others. Ashlyn recognizes that children’s main communication of their feelings and experiences comes through their play and creative mediums. Ashlyn utilizes several means of creative play such as art and sandtray techniques. Ashlyn is working toward her Registered Play Therapy Certification along with beginning training for Animal Assisted Therapy.

Ashlyn received her Bachelor's Degree in Victim Studies in 2018 and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2021. Ashlyn found passion in working with those who have experienced trauma and victims of abuse. Throughout her educational career, Ashlyn has been trained in child-centered play therapy and sand tray practices. Ashlyn has worked with CPS and children in foster care and provided support and skills to help address the trauma and challenges that they have faced. Ashlyn is trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) for trauma-informed care and working with children of higher emotional and behavioral needs.
